Very good underground Detroit hip-hop, just released. I thought that whatever I listened to after Reloaded would be underwhelming, but this gully Detroit shit complements Roc Marci perfectly. Harder drums and louder raps. Very good so far. Christ, this year has been fucking ridiculous for hip-hop. Will be doing a full run-down in late December, with reviews for my Top 30/40 albums.

believe me this is good, reaaaally good, one of the best albums of the 90s actually. i'm surprised only 5 members rated this album :shock:.
so if you miss the 90s Weezer's/pavement's sound this is just for you !
Just finished re-listening to this for the first time since the day it dropped like 6 weeks ago, and I've realised that I can't remember any of the songs from the first time around. In the wake of awesome albums from Roc Marci and Guilty Simpson, this is just very average. In fact, rhyme-wise, it's fucking weak. Some of the hooks - if you can call them that - are just awful. I remember liking it, but probably somewhat because I'm quite inclined to enjoy street hip-hop in the vein (or - in this case - lineage) of Mobb Deep and mostly because I wasn't paying any attention to it. I also read somewhere that The Alchemist was supposed to produce the whole thing, but there's only like three Alc tracks on here. The beats are just standard gully fare, but you need to sound hungry to body beats like that. Give these beats to Styles P or Roc Marci or even an on-form 50 Cent and you'd have a very enjoyable album. In fact, most worryingly, an on-form Prodigy would've turned these beats into a very enjoyable album. But he's just not on form here. On the plus side, the track 'Medicine Man' is awesome, but even that contains some clunky lines ("I make grown women feel young, make your pops wanna hang out with us and hit the club"). Beyond that, this album is utterly forgettable. Definitely not staying in rotation.
Moving on to this. Conscious female rapper on 9th Wonder's label. Will deliver a verdict later. Sounds nice, but I've been listening to gully shit all day and this may be too far a departure at the moment. Probably just gonna put on some 50 Cent in like ten minutes if nothing jumps out at me. Nice beat on this second tune though - although Rocki Evans (the guy on the hook) just sounds like a poor man's BJ The Chicago Kid.
