I really don't know who to believe here. Either the kid was incredibly stupid and fell for some huge /b/-ish stunt, or he made up a fake online girlfriend, and had her DIE to "inspire the team."
I hope this story blows up even more, because he hasn't even given his side yet in front of a camera. This is outstanding.

Te'o had to have known. They "dated" for a year. He said he visited and met her. I doubt that anyone would believe this for a whole year without actually seeing this girl. No way.
It's also incredibly surprising that there were so many stories on her death last year, and none of them checked any of the facts Like Te'o gave them fake quotes and the media just bought without looking into it at all. A simple google search would've exposed this way earlier..
