I'm surprised to hear that from you. Mike McCready's guitar playing is heavily blues influenced. Of all the grunge bands Pearl Jam is the one that actually has guitar solos in their songs.

One of the key characteristics of the alt-grunge movement was an absence of guitar wankery/grandstanding which translated to a lack of guitar solos.

And i agree with mcfrogger who said Attack On Memory by Cloud Nothings was (one of) the best post-90s grunge album(s). (if interested, another good album in that vein from last year was Hallelujah! I'm A Bum by Local H.)

Two songs from AIC's spring album are on YT! They're called Hollow and Stone.

Apparently Nickelback are post-grunge.

They are.

Nickleback was formed several years after grunge.

I changed the first post to include a poll of the big four and four videos from YT. The main four grunge albums. All four bands have a great album! My grunge band rankings are:

Alice in Chains
Nirvana
Soundgarden
Pearl Jam
STP
Hole
Pixies

Only 7? I got some catching up to do. I'm gonna listen to Mudhoney, Silverchair, Temple of the Dog, and more Pixies later.

Also, did anyone know that Temple of the Dog is literally the five members of Pearl Jam with Chris Cornell?

Yes I think basically everyone that likes that album probably knows that. Although at the time Matt Cameron was just Soundgarden's drummer. He became Pearl Jam's drummer way later in '98.

Yes. But I think at the time the TotD album was recorded Pearl Jam wasn't even a band yet. TotD was a tribute to the Mother Love Bone singer (Andy Wood) who died. Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were in MLB. Eddie Vedder was an unknown singer they were trying out in a new project that became Pearl Jam. I believe Chris Cornell actually brought Mike McCready into the TotD sessions where he met the rest of the guys who invited him to join the band that became Pearl Jam.

Missed this back then. I know what you're saying. However, my comment was more directed at sheep21 who's chart leads me to believe that he may like guitar wankery. Of the grunge bands, Pearl Jam has the closest thing to guitar wankery. Hence my surprise that he doesn't like Pearl Jam.
