With Naples gone, would it be wise to rename Politics And Religion to something like 'Contemporary Issues'?

so i think we're all agreed on there being a forum for * of the day stuff and a forum for user created music. i really think a forum for stuff only relevant to the current year would be useful too.

Not sure I'm crazy about forums specific for genres. I think there would always be questions about how many you need and where does it end. I think there would easily be disagreements about what goes where and therefore a lot of unnecessary policing and maintenance.

it is tricky but the reasoning was that music general would be literally a forum for topics that cover all of music whereas the genre forums would be a place where fans of that genre of music could delve deeper with it (in general if people aren't really interested in a genre they don't want to read the threads that are more specific towards it unless they're looking to learn more about it - which genre specific forums would help). i figure the genre forums would be: rock, electronica, metal, pop, indie, jazz & classical and world music.

but yeah...just my opin.

Start slow and only create the obvious ones at first.

If you can make some sub-forums where only you or the moderators could create threads, that would solve the possibility of problems for the thingies of the day thread or threads.

But then the Today In Music threads would have to go elsewhere.

I think splitting the music forum up is a great idea, place is a mess right now.

Some obvious ways to do it have been mentioned already, can imagine the arguments that are going to be had if we introduce sub-forums by genre though...
