In essence, I don't think it's a "travesty" because it's both users are great. Had he said something along the lines of it being unfortunate that his preferred choice had lost, then I wouldn't have said anything.
I'm gonna address this here because I've seen the word thrown around a lot in the games threads lately. No worries, I think the US news and other media is responsible for spreading the wrong usage of the word, but
travesty: any grotesque or debased likeness or imitation
and I think you all mean "tragedy," as in the result is in some way contrary to your wished outcome (even though that is hyperbole), rather than the result is somehow an imitation of some unknown other thing you are all referencing.

Im always glad to, and always will, be just Saoirse. Not being among the most popular kids in class or the Best Ever User won't change that. And if you really get to know Loveless and how valuable and irreplaceable he is to this site, an outcome like this should be nothing but celebrated.
