Okay so I just finished listening to Vivien Goldman's Dirty Washing EP, I fucking loved it. It's easily the best first listen i'v had this year thus far, i'm gonna replay it now. If anyone knows anything similar in sound hit me up please, need more of this. It's hard to explain what it sounds like, sort of post punk with a really nice cockney twang to the vocals, which are really beautiful. I guess you could class it as Dub too, but I don't know enough about that particular genre to say.

The Slits' Cut or The Pop Group's Y (if you haven't heard those) would be my recommendations.

I love The Roots, they're probably my favorite Hip-Hop/Rap band. They've got this unique 90's style that has transformed and adapted itself to the new music trends.

Can someone recomend me a The Roots's type of band or artist of the 00's

Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Binary Star - Master Of The Universe
Othello - Classic
One Be Lo - Sonogram

Well, not of the 00's, but Mos Def's Black On Both Sides is very Roots-esque. At Talib Kweli.

Reflection Eternal, Black Star, etc... All of those 2 artists side projects as well.

Aesop Rock & Jurassic 5 are also similar.

But overall, the Roots have a pretty original sound. There isn't much that sounds like them 😕 😕
