To be honest, I'm more pissed off by his new album/Samsung advert. To think that this man was my favourite rapper for five or six years of my life makes me feel a little nauseous to be perfectly honest.
It really is insanely heartbreaking to watch something like this happen to someone you admire. Greed is the devil. And I think the type of massive success that Jay Z had can totally destroy the creative process. There's plenty of musicians who I love who totally went off the deep end and release nothing but shit now. Jay should have just quit while he was ahead and work on the stuff he cares about more now.
Celebrities have gained the fast track in the art world because they have the cash to buy art and the presence to make a gallery successful. Nothing pains me more than to see people like James Franco, Tilda Swinton, and Jay Z get immediate attention as "artists" while many of the greatest artists don't get recognition for their work until their on their death bed. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
