Fourth listen or something. There are a lot of songs, it takes time to get familiar with the record. While it's IMO clearly inferior to Bee Thousand, it's still very good. As We Go Up, We Go Down, Game Of Pricks, Motor Away and Striped White Jets in particular are really stellar songs, and of course there are many other excellent tracks, but also many pretty boring ones, proportionally more than on Bee Thousand. Still, extremely pretty record.

EDIT: Okay, am I missing something? I'm 5 songs in and so far it's utterly devoid of any of the charm or melodicism of his first 8.

This album is like having a night on the town when you are wayy too fucked up to be there. Dancefloors are just blurs; friends are strangers. But its not just having a bad trip, its much worse. Youre completely lost in the most familiar part of town. This is downright suicidal. Gothic and dark Id recommend this to anyone looking for some seriously depressing shit.
