First real listen, even if I already knew a few tracks. It's incredibly average and pretty boring. Obviously You Really Got Me is great, but to be honest, I think that even that song is pretty average material by their later standard. Well I didn't really expect much more from that record, but it's always a bit sad. I'll probably never listen to that again.
Not sure about the first track. Not very high expectations anyway. While I Am A Bird Now will be in my top 30 or something after my next chart update, I'm not even sure The Crying Light would be in the top 10 of its year. Come on Antony, what happened to you!?
Edit : not very good so far. Fuck, it's really frustrating. His voice is here, but the compositions themselves are really nothing special. It just does never take off. Some musicians need to be overly theatrical and anthemic, and I think Antony is one of them. Whereas on IAABN, there were heartbreaking chorus over heartbreaking chorus accompanied by extremely delicate verses, here there are just nice acoustic ballads. It does not suffice. I just hope his first album will save his discography...
