Hyenas are the greatest of animals. Equal parts creepy and hilarious. They count as pets and I refuse to acknowledge otherwise.






They also make the best sounds.

I've had rabbits as pets. They can be pretty awesome...but if you have them indoors, you have to rabbit proof your house. They are very easy to litterbox train, without the nastiness of cat litter.

As for sounds, there is nothing quite like the scream of a rabbit that knows it's about to be seriously injured or killed by a predator.

I first heard of the mantis shrimp from this Radiolab episode, you might want to check it out if you're interested in it.

Anyway, I voted dog for favourite pet, but my favourite animal is the markhor:

It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.
