A Love Supreme - John Coltrane. First listen and first John Coltrane album. The first part in a series of many 60's albums that will soon visit my charts. Also my first true jazz album. The only other album I've heard that's partially jazz is Aja by Steely Dan.

If I were you, I wouldn't start with A Love Supreme- it is quite experimental, and may give you a bad impression on what jazz is. For starters, I would start out with Kind Of Blue (kinda obvious) or Birth of the Cool by Miles Davis, Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet and Blue Train or My Favourite Things by John Coltrane. These are all much more listenable, yet are all completely different for each other.
