I really like VF, this is the best album I've heard of there's (I've not extensively dug into their stuff, though). Not a faust fan. This one wasn't too hard for me, but I'm surprised to see it SO DARN CLOSE. _________________

Jennifer is an awesome track but not even Faust IV is as great an album as the debut.

Well dang, this is tough. I think I'm leaning towards Violent Femmes, but I'd be happy to see either progress to the next level.

Faust is more cohesive and feels like a whole journey in just over half an hour. I enjoy Faust IV but they mostly just dick around for the majority of the second side and it just isn't as satisfying an experience. Not that they don't dick around on Faust too but there's more of a sense of purpose there. The debut just strikes a balance between randomness and flow in a way that Faust IV and maybe even So Far come close to, but they never quite get there. I also like Tapes but for a different reason.
An alternative could be that I've been brainwashed by Scaruffi
