Following Norman, here's my log from the server downtime (first listen in bold):
- Giant Steps (Coltrane, 1960) - Great, obviously. Not sure yet whether I prefer it to Blue Train.
- The Genius of Ray Charles (1960) - I could rant about this one for a page. It's good music, I guess, more subtle than his usual stuff, but it really felt like he went from acting as a leader on the cutting edge to walking backwards to meet up with the pack.
- City of Glass (Stan Kenton, 1952) - Still one of my favorite jazz records.
- The Fabulous Wailers (1959) - One of my favorite rock and roll records from the '50s, I expect to revisit this one often.
- Blind Joe Death (John Fahey, 1959) - This one is very special, particularly in historical context. I look forward to exploring it further
- Drums of Passion (Babatunde Olatunji, 1960) - I'm a real novice with world music, so this one will need more time. I liked it, but it was difficult to stay engaged.
- At Last! (Etta James, 1960) - Solid record from beginning to end, but I doubt I'll be compelled to revisit it very often. Perhaps through no fault of its own, it has become very generic.
- Ritchie Valens (1958) - Rapidly becoming a favorite. Amazing he was so good at 17.
- The Brothers Four (1960) - Really tight harmonies, but the song selection and ordering is a bit flaky. Some great moments, some awful ones.
- His Hand in Mine (Elvis Presley, 1960) - Even worse than I expected, and that's saying a lot.
- Belafonte at Carnegie (1959) - Liked it more than I expected. His calypso recordings don't really do him justice.
- Go Bo Diddley (1959) - Much more eclectic than his debut. Was kind of so-so on it, will listen again.
- Jazz in Silhouette (Sun Ra, 1959) - Liked it more the second time, has a very dreamy feel.

Starting to really love this. Beautiful stuff. And I always thought the cover was of mountains, but I just recently noticed the ship and realized they were waves, though I'm thinking some of those are big rocks, so I guess it is a mixture of waves and mountains or something. Hm. Anyways, I almost regret not voting for this against the Nick Drake album. I do enjoy the Nick Drake album, but...Don't really listen to it much. This however is probably going to get lots of listens from me, at least for a little while.
Hm, don't have an exact log of what I listened to when the server was down, but I remember listening to the following (usually more than once)...
Ultima Thulee by Blut Aus Nord
Pure Heroine by Lorde
Feels by Animal Collective (listened to this repeatedly for a while)
Diadem of 12 Stars by Wolves in the Throne Room
Lots of Coldworld (both Melancholie and Stars Are Dead Now)
Probably more, though maybe not.
