Yes, it's a compilation. I like compilations. The 2 volume Past Masters series is important, as it collects all of the songs not on the British album releases and gives them a home. It also collects a few rarities. Without Past Masters, songs like Hey Jude, Rain, and Revolution would be homeless. Volume 2 is better, as it focuses on the later years.

Soup is the second album by Blind Melon. And it's a mess. Singer Shannon Hoon is pretty much out of his mind, and you can hear it in his voice, which is still somehow a beautiful instrument. The band holds him up admirably, and the result is a strange and somehow remarkable album. At first, it sounds like just a mess...but there's a lot underneath. Hoon died two months after this was released. It was sad, and it was bound to happen. A somehow beautiful and, at times, celebratory album. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
