When I thought about the 80's what first came into my mind when thinking about good albums was who made them.I loved,& still do,the music from the 80's.When M.T.V. first came on it showed nothing but music videos 24 hours a day.It was a great time for me.I just sat fixated in front of the TV watching M.T.V.So I came up with 4 bands that I feel dominated in the 80's as far as putting out good albums all through the decade.I have purchased every one of these albums & still listen to them often.
Rush (Neil Pert's drumming & Geddy Lee's base playing help make all these good)
80) Permanent Waves
81) Moving Pictures
81) Exit Stage Left
82) Signals
84) Grace Under Pressure
85) Power Windows
87) Hold Your Fire
88) A Sow Of Hands
89) Presto
U2 (The Edge's guitar playing & the bands lyrics help make all these good)
80) Boy
81) October
83) War
84) The Unforgettable Fire
87) The Joshua Tree
88) Rattle And Hum
Metallica (The had it going on back in the day. Then they sold out & took a dive)
83) Kill Em All
84) Ride The Lightning
86) Master Of Puppets
88) And Justice For All
Iron Maiden
This is just my opinion so don't shoot me I'm just the piano player. Some people love this band & some hate them.I often find that the people who hate them have never really listened to them much other then a few songs.Every one of these albums is good.Filler on them is virtually hypothetical.Paul DiAnno does lead vocals on the first 2 & was good. But he was a punk singer in a metal band.Bruce Dickenson replaced him & is an astonishingly good singer with power & range.Steve Harris is unbelievable on bass & a prolific songwriter.Other members contribute with lyrics as well.Adrian Smith & Dave Murry generate intricate & harmonious guitar solos & are a 1 - 2 punch I feel is second to none.Clive Burr is on drums for the first 3 albums & is an excellent drummer. Then came Nicho McBrain as his replacement who is an even better drummer then Burr.Nicko is a monster drummer & drives the music with class ,power,& blazing speed. In my opinion Iron Maiden ruled the music world in the 80's in the studio & live in concert.
80) Iron Maiden
81) Killers
82) The Number Of The Beast
83) Piece Of Mind
84) Powerslave
86) Somewhere In Time
88) Seventh Son Of a Seventh Son _________________ .

i really think you nailed it. i'm not big into iron maiden, but i don't disagree with your opinion. they are amazing musicians. metallica, u2, and rush are some of my most favorite bands, and they all wrote amazing music.
