I'm addressing artists or bands where the primary members are 45+ that haven't had an album critically acclaimed in a looooong time or their latest album is their best in a looooooooooooong time...
The three that come to my mind are: david bowie, paul mccartney, nine inch nails and pet shop boys.
How does McCartney count among this criteria? He had an album last year that won a Grammy (and had one a little while before that which also got four Grammy nominations).
