X frontman John Doe still has the goods here. This is a short but sweet, bluesy and energetic album that sounds great. Guys like John Doe get overlooked when they go solo, and this one shows that it's at least sometimes unfair. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

John's tracks are good...but for me, the Yoko tracks are the most interesting. "Kiss Kiss Kiss" and the others sound like Yoko knew the future a lot better than John did. Still a very emotional album because of what happened next. haven't heard it in a while...surprised by how clean it sounds!
I recently read Fred Seaman's book "Borrowed Time" for the second time. He was John's personal assistant from 1979 until John's dead, and he practically lived with the Lennons in the Dakota. He accompanied John to Bermuda in the summer of 1980 and he is the only person who witnessed how all the songs on Double Fantasy were written, what inspired John to write them, and how they were later recorded when they returned to NY. It's a very interesting read. One of the best books I've read about John, too.

ButterThumbzI always used to wonder if she wore false earsProfile O'er the hills and far away
So weird parts of this (f.ex "Unrecorded") sound like they might be treading into black metal but never do. Which is absolutely fine with me, just strange is all. Ive been on a huge M83 kick lately and i just cant decide which is their best..
