I wouldn't be so sure it'll be The Velvet Underground & Nico vs Unknown Pleasures. Unknown Pleasures is likely gonna see a very tough matchup against Surfer Rosa.

I would have thought Funeral would have made it to the final, and it didn't even make the quarterfinals. Also, don't count out Psychocandy, the Doors, or In the Court of the Crimson King just yet.

Because you always hope that something might change, that a pleasant surprise will make it all the way. Sometimes they do. I don't intend on getting into this argument again. I've said what I think. These albums aren't undeserving, but I similarly don't think it's unreasonable to wish for the unexpected.

I agree that it's boring, but also that it would be unreasonable to expect anything else.

I wonder, do people think we should set limits on how high albums can be ranked for future tournaments? That was kind of the point of the 2KT, but that seems to have died.

I think we should, and it doesn't even have to be as drastic as something like "only albums outside the top 2000." It can just be a rule that things in the top 100 or 200 can't be nominated. That would eliminate some of those albums that get boring to see win all the time, yet allow for albums that are still relatively well known to us.

I will keep this in mind if I ever host another tourney.

Not a fan of VU&N at all. Marquee Moon is pretty great.

Agreed. I think I should keep this in mind for the Best Solo Artists tourney (if we do that).
