Okay, I worded that just awfully. I meant there wasn't much expansion on anything but rock in the albums mentioned, there were many revolutionised sub-genres of rock but nothing much more.
1988 opened gateways for many genres and many more sub-genres, it was a more diverse year.

Every year is more diverse than the previous one, but every year is not better than the previous one, so once again, I'm not sure your reasoning works 😕

I understand that. I mean that 1988 was a better building block in music, it helped create more and more was output from the influence of the albums mentioned.
Plus, I just generally prefer 1988.

Okay then.. After 15 gruelling months of heavy year vs year battling, change of guard on the forums, captains changing their names, getting banned or just leaving, original showrunner falling victim to the treacherous conditions just before the finish line...
We finally determined the best ever year for music.
And it's from the 1980s 😮

I guess 1971 was second to one afterall...
Still, it's pretty great to have gotten to the final (although I doubt I would have without Manc and Sairose).
