I am probably misreading this statement, but you got to love when someone sets it as a goal to listen to the top 1000 albums on a list of 1001.
Anyway, the main reason the #1 choice is also (so far) the #1 pick is because of language inflation. If the English language was used functionally I believe most #1 picks would actually be #9 picks.
