A Fragile Hope by Devil Sold His Soul

So I totally youtubed this in like seconds after you suggested, so it got done pretty well early into the morning…

By the time I was on the third track for this I pretty much fell in with this record, it’s pretty damn great—I love the intensity and rawness of the record, which is exactly what something out of something classified as a metalcore-meets-emoviolence-meets-sludge metal thing needs to be. I’m not the hugest on the clean vocal bits, but it’s very much something I’m used to with listening to the genre and it doesn’t turn me away. What a frantic, energetic mess this is in all of the best ways ever. You know how to cater to my interests (or my current mood) really well, though I will say that I thought the first half of this was much better than the second half and like some releases it seemed to sort of drag on at the end. But overall, this thing incited a lot of good things with me. Really enjoyed it, thank you.

Though I imagine when I go to bed that this is going to be rough. What kind of nightmares will I encounter? Hahaha.

Thumbs Up!

So this was actually pretty cool. It could've easily been generic, but they created a really cool atmosphere around each of the songs, which I really liked. Very varied, enjoyable to listen to, pretty good stuff.

And now an album for you:

"The Parallax II: Future Sequence" - Between The Buried And Me

If you've heard it before, I'll grab you a different one

It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Between the Buried and Me, let’s see if it’s a favorable go this time around. Okay, I wasn’t enthralled by this record particularly but I do have plenty of thoughts to go along with it. Now originally I had listened to Alaska and Colors some odd years ago and I liked them but I didn’t exactly see the “hype” so to speak and it seems to me that Between the Buried and Me are a talented group of musicians but I’m not sure how interesting they actually are. I’m not sure if this is because I prefer punk-oriented metalcore or if it actually is the band on autopilot. It’s hard to say. I also tend to think they are really holding on to their death metal influences to the point that it’s not engaging anymore, to where it’s like where Opeth was as a progressive death metal band a few years ago but instead of moving on to more creative outlets (like Mikael Åkerfeldt did) they seem to be barely grasping it when honestly I think if they dropped the death metal attributes they’d become a refreshing outlet—but perhaps they are afraid of their metalcore fanbase shunning them? I don’t know. I liked this as I implied, but it left more of a feeling of the band as I said—on autopilot.

Thumbs up, though.

Hey I remember this first track! 😁 It has been so long since I last heard this. I don't know why I didn't listen to it more than once. To be honest I've never been big on satire though...I mean, I like Candide, lol, but I prefer more straightforward "you fucking suck". And their lyrics are really satirical, at least on the first few songs. Far from the best folk I've heard, but it is still cool. Doesn't feel very folky at all though, what with some songs having these tinny little beats. Tahiti Rain Song is kind of amazing. 😮 Oh my, Candyland is too! This album is getting even better. 😁 Hope it keeps up this pace to the end of the album. These songs feel more musical and less like vehicles for the lyrics (seeing as Candyland doesn't have any discernible lyrics). 😁
West Side is lovely too 😮 I really love the songs like this one. Wish the whole album was like those songs. Madonna is pretty dope too, probably the best of the lyric-heavy songs...if that makes sense. Haitian Love Song, huh? Neat-o. DBZ you should listen to Josephine Foster. She's a bit much to take in doses of whole albums but she has some great songs, makes one think of Snow White.

Anyways, cool album, thanks for giving me a reason to relisten to it. 😄

Btw, you can play connect the emoticons with this post but it probably won't form much of anything. Kind of looks like a very slanted, distorted M, actually. M for meow, eh?

Edit: aww, doesn't look like an M now that I've posted it.

I heard their other album 'Masse Mensch Material' a while back (very highly rated on RYM) and though it was very well put together, after more listens I got turned off by the group's pompousness. 😐 I mean, I like some bands that sometimes get called pompous but this was very overbearing. Maybe they had a different vibe on that album.

Anyway, for Gowienczyk

This is well, certainly some decomposed noisy weirdness. It's good. can't think of much to say beyond that. Cool sounds and the lyrics (when decipherable) made me laugh: a car ride to the south, you should'a punched her in the mouth

I think Brandonmeow's next in line so here is something else you might hate. 🤣

But, What Ends When The Symbols Shatter? by Death In June

Well technically since I didn't post an album for the next person I'm not next in line, but I'll probably listen to that album sometime anyways. 😜

Yeah I wasn't sure who I was giving it too, but the original post/rules say nothing about being exempted because you only review but don't reccomend an album...so I think your kinda stuck in an endless rec cycle unless you just never post a review. 🤣

Well I think later on that it was decided that you only have to listen to the album below you if you posted an album (not just a review), the OP was just never edited to show that. 😜 I mean, I'll listen to your rec regardless, so it doesn't really matter. 😜
