Technical Space Composer's Crew - Canaxis 5

Wouldn't be surprised if you've heard this before though.

Indeed I have, but that doesn't mean it isn't a damn fine record. I actually hadn't heard it in awhile, but I'm glad I decided to spin it again. Always knew it was one of the essential bridges for me from popular electronic music to the avant-garde mid-20th Century electronic masters, but I forgot how fantastic it SOUNDS. Probably one of the more accessible sound collages out there that has depth to match the best. Probably will get evaluated for my Top 100 when I can make one, tbh.

For you, Gowi, one more before I take a break from the thread to let other people get and give recs:

I wanna know what you think of the (music included on) this release from the incredibly controversial Muslimgauze - Hamas Arc.

Lost In The New Real by Arjen Anthony Lucassen

alight I'll be honest, I didn't really dig this. It felt far too grandiose/anthemic for it's own good, and the sci-fi future concept album attempt was shoddily held together and felt awfully tripe. Also, far too bloated at two discs (though props to Lucassen for some of the covers on disc two, which, while I prefer the originals, were at least creative reinventions of the songs rather than trite replications. I didn't necessarily enjoy them but hey credit where credit's due.) The sweeping electroncis and guitars occasionally provided some interesting textures or catchy hooks, but for the most part, with the whole synth-driven progressive metal thing, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was listening to Nine Inch Nails covering cover Dream Theater, and Rutger Hauer's melodramatic voice-overs only solidified my fast-growing sensation of "this album is taking itself waaaaay too seriously". Sorry man, not my cup of tea.

alright looks like satiemaniac's next but wait

are you opting out of the thread? If you're still taking recs then I give you

Gyorgy Ligeti Concertos For Cello / Vio...ntemporain
But if you are no longer participating then I guess I'll just listen to whatever someone posts next

Oh, you picked one of my favorite albums! I had been meaning to get around to listening again so I could figure out where to put it on my chart. Guess it just got first priority, so I'll put it on now. ๐Ÿ˜

As for you, check out another of my favorites, LGBTQ rapper Mykki Blanco's debut mixtape, Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss Mixtape

Divide: I hope you come around to at least appreciating it after a few listens, I know it's not the best introduction to Arjen as a musician but it shows glimpses of his range and talent. It definitely isn't tripe, though, so wording it as such was a bit harsh for something so quickly digested. I think there's a lot of special stuff on this-- though progressive music tends to be long (or overlong in some cases) so I don't think that's a putoff for me either.

I'll give it another try. I'll admit I already have an unjust disposition against most prog, so that's working unfairly against the albums's favor. I dunno. I'll try and clear my head of any Dream Threater comparissons and give it a more unbiased listen.

Sweet. Looks dope. Also ๐Ÿ˜ another Ligeti fan! This pleases me. I am almost finished with a contemporary classical music chart that you may find interesting

That Christian Death album is a fantastic release. I just go this one, so why don't we share our first experience?

He6 - Go Go Sound '71 Vol. 1 & 2 [psychedelic rock]

Well I find no record of this, so I found Vol. 1 and listened to that, hope that still counts. Even that was kinda hard to find ... anyways, it's pretty alright, nothing special but nothing bad.

I think this is for Satie? Well I've wanted someone to listen to this and you seem open-minded enough and willing to sit through some weirdness.

For Rocky : Right Time by Mighty Diamonds (seems like there's a bug with the search function). You love 70s' music, yet have no reggae on your chart. There's something wrong. Hope you like it and haven't listened to it yet.

I actually really liked this. Reggae is not an area that I'm too well-versed in, and this was really solid. I enjoyed it.

You know me too well, though with material like this I canโ€™t properly gauge a proper understanding of a record under one listen. I will say that I really like the ideas going on in this though, and found the backstory (which you told me about through PM) particularly interesting even though it doesnโ€™t hold much with me since as I said I can separate music and personality of artists most of the time. I like the ambient soundscapes very much here and the incorporation of traditional percussion in some places gives the textures particular life that they would not have otherwise.

Enjoyed this. I don't know why I don't listen to reggae sorts of stuff more because I almost always like it. At the very worst a few of the melodies (usually I think on the melodica?) bugged me a bit. Otherwise cool sounds/production/beats/ect.
