EDIT: also hey Norman, on a somewhat related note, based on charts and ratings and whatnot, you seem to be BEA's only other Diane Cluck fan. Have you heard/what did you think of Boneset?
A first listen slightly disappointed me, I found it was too clean compared with her previous work, at least what I know of it.
You can stream it on the website ๐ It's incredible. My #2 for the year so far.
i waiting for the real thing, a higher quality listening experience ๐ )

I see Hayden is on top of it, but here's a status posted by The Antlers today:
"We're beyond thrilled to tell you that our new album, Familiars, will be released on June 16th in UK via Transgressive Records and June 17th in US via ANTI-.
Here's the first track, "Palace", with a film by Hana Tajima.

Re-listen soon.
I think the "cleaner sound" to which you are referring is a product of broader, more chamber folky instrumentation, which is a pretty jarring departure from her almost exclusively comparatively minimalist acoustic work that has previously defined her career. (Although by contrast she does less vocal overlaying and harmonizing with herself than she has in the past; generally it's just one vocal track.) I don't think by any means it stands up to Oh Vanille/Ova Nil, (which I think still maintain is one of the most criminally underrated albums of all time, and which I hold in a high regard almost tantamount to that of Joanna Newsom, but I digress.) I actually like the stylistic change, which is reflected both in the aforementioned chamber folk(ish) instrumentation and in her vocal delivery, which has her inflecting vowels in such a way that accompanies the piano/various strings/other newly introduced instruments quite nicely, and the vocal change gives me a new respect for her talent as a vocalist in addition to her songwriting prowess which I have always adored; (lyrically Boneset is only a minor notch below OVON imo). But yeah I loved the album; (really my only complaint is that it felt a tad way too short). And to anyone reading this, (especially Newsom fans), go listen to Oh Vanille/Ova Nil; it really is a masterpiece of contemporary folk and goddammit why isn't it on my chart. Time to go remedy that...
