One of the biggest Pixies fans around and the new album didn't sound offensive or trite to me at all. It just wasn't their original output; almost reminds me of a more controlled Teenager of the Year

Thoughts: past one song (and I don't remember which) I thought overall inspiration was terribly poor and I felt very sad indeed, remebering when I was 17 in '89 and we got drunk to Doolittle and...

fuck do I feel old. I will never listen to that record again. Honestly I almost cried.

TBH I only have heard the singles (didn't want to listen to a leak as Pixies have such a raw sound I get the feeling it would sound bad in a low quality rip). I'm still going to listen to it but it seems rushed and surface level. It just doesn't have any impact for me.

I don't think rushed is the right word, but it's definitely a weird record to release. Might just be Frank Black's best work since Teenager of the Year beating out Bluefinger for that spot. But the original guys still have a lot of chemistry and if you look at those two records and Trompe le Monde, this makes sense as the Pixies next movement of music. Enter the record with an open mind, don't expect Doolittle; that era is over and done. Some really great songs here.

Is it the Pixies' weakest? Yes.

Is it a Pixies record? Why are you complaining? ๐Ÿ˜œ

Perhaps this is your problem with it? Nostalgia is keeping you back, maybe? I don't know, I like it; not as much as I like Trompe le Monde or Doolittle, but well enough.

I'll still listen to it don't worry. And I hope it's not another Doolittle, not because I don't love that album, but it would feel a little bit like a let down if they repeated themselves to appease the fans. Listening to some of the new album on youtube now and you are right, there's some interesting stuff here.

Though about the actual song Indie Cindy... http://youtu.be/S4FyZwAFZII?t=14s

Moving Targets by Penetration

First listen. Started off pretty underwhelming, but got better and better. Excellent early punk record, with a female vocalist. Nowhere near X-Ray Spex in terms of sound, though, it's much more emotional and much less angry. Almost melancholic; definitely like a cry for help in a world gone mad, rather than a "fuck society lol". Really touching, recommended. Thanks a lot an_outlaw. Y'all should check his Topaz chart, it's dope.

For the little story, I was in the middle of their Free Money cover (the last track), it was intense (almost as good, though not that different, as the original), but my phone battery was at 1%. It was working OK though, until IrishMusichead sent me a Snapchat; my phone died in the middle of the chorus. Not sure I can ever forgive you, man. Not sure at all.
