Punk or Prog

Guys, this isn't an explicit comparison or "vs." thread between the two genres. I just wanted to talk about something I realized. So, now I know that most music critics hate prog, and think that the Ramones, AC/DC and the Sex Pistols saved anything. But when I was a kid, that couldn't be farther from the truth. When I was in sixth grade, I liked stuff like Styx and Pink Floyd from the early seventies, but I thought that AC/DC and the Sex Pistols were "retarded shock-rock" that ruined the eighties. In fact, to this day, I still more or less hold that same belief. Most of the eighties albums I love (Master of Puppets, Number of the Beast, etc.) really had a seventies-style composition. And most of the nineties stuff that I love so much, such as Tori Amos and NIN, borrows from that as well. So, what do you guys prefer? Do you like the eighties-style "punk fun" music that apparently "saved" music, or do you like the seventies stuff that's actually good?

Which reminds me: Both genres play into each other more than either side's defenders would like to admit, so don't go acting like the two are incompatible. Any fan of At The Drive-In knows this well enough.

As for the actually question, well its hard to say, I love both genres. My head says prog and my heart says punk 😁 Kinda like the music I guess
