Great album (I mean, I like it a lot...). ๐Ÿ‘ Merci Drakonium for introducing this one to me. ๐Ÿ˜„

Does Drakonium actually know my opinion on this album? Hmm. Guess I don't talk about it much. Well I don't hate it but I don't love it. I actually am not head over heels for his voice, it is a bit much at times, but it is no doubt unique and affecting, and I imagine this album really is powerful if you do love the voice. Hope There's Someone is good enough to put me close to tears, that's just a really wow track.
The album has a strong atmosphere, which is a plus, it's just not an atmosphere I want to immerse myself in often. Reminds me of something I can't remember (this happens a lot with certain albums and it is always a good thing). Feels a bit theatrical, which is something I tend to like. Honestly it's an album I need to listen to many more times. Perhaps it is a grower I haven't given enough time to grow? Chances are if I love the first track so much the rest will surely follow.

I'll give it another listen now, I think.

Pretty good. I thought I recognised his voice from somewhere but I couldn't pin it down until the last few seconds of the album! He sounds a tiny bit like David Thomas Broughton on some parts.

Wowowow. I didn't exactly "get" this at first or anything... I thought it was happy. I dunno why. I gave it a chance and listened properly and I understood the pain in Hegarty's voice and in the music. Painful emotion, as put previously, is evoked throughout. And my gawd, how can you think the end of Hope There's Someone is overdramatic? Granted, the first part is a lot better, but it still contributes a lot to the song and I'd be sad if it ended with only the first part. Anyways, Hope There's Someone, You Are My Sister, and Spiralling are the highlights here.

I think it's Hegarty's best (assuming most will agree too), but it can get a little theatrical, as others have stated. That said, when it hits it really hits hard, and I'm on of those who falls into the "his voice is beautiful" category, though I can see why somebody might think that the whole Bryan Ferry-meets-Whitney Houston-on-quaaludes thing he has going on is annoying.
