anyone have any favorite recordings of the cello suites outside of Casals, Rostropovich, and Ma? I've heard Isserlis, Bylsma, Fournier, Wispelwey, Maisky, and Haimovitz thrown around. Just wondering.

(you have to buy a DVD, though it comes with two discs of just the audio recordings)
this was questionable towards the beginning for me, but very good towards the end (though that's where he begins to prescribe towards tempos and vibrato set by Casals, Rostropovich, etc.); either way, this name is going down in my books. I'm revamping my interest in classical performance and, since Bach's cello suites are the pieces I'm most familiar with, that's where I plan to listen to it for. Exploring "authenticity" as well...

I have Bach's Cello Suites (along with a couple of Sonatas for Cello and Piano) on this double-CD performed by Janos Starker c. circa 1963:
