Will never agree with the sentiment of bashing something is productive. It was half-related to the worst user discussion and it's something I despised about the awards and forgot to publicly mention a few months ago.

Criticism is what drives art, rejecting one aesthetic is how new aesthetics are born. So yes, "bashing" is pretty much the most constructive thing you can do. I don't actually know what's going on here or what's really being discussed because I'm too lazy to lurk further into this thread, but I appreicate someone's ability to articulate why they disliked something more than their ability to articulate why they liked it.

Without criticism what else is there to say but "oh i love this" over and over again? what's the point of even talking about music if all you can talk about is how much you like your favs? not saying that isn't good, but it shouldn't be the basis of all discussion.

Exactly. Affirming positive criticism gets boring after a while. No piece of art is perfect and while bashing is just another extreme end of the spectrum, intellectual discussion is fun and often very helpful, especially negative critique. It helps you grow and develop your craft more.

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

To be fair, if one is being critical of a piece of music, the comments need to be better than "this is so dumb any1 who likes it is super stoopid" which can happen, and those comments are just as unproductive as "this is the best" if we want to engage in meaningful discussion about an album.

I will respect a tactful, well-articulated negative criticism.

I will not tolerate pointless bashing and non-discussive negative comments.

Guess which one I see more even on BEA? Yep! The latter!
