Didn't expect Jape to do overly well in this tournament to be honest and a tough draw didn't help either, kind of nominated it as a spur of the moment decision given the limited number of spaces in the tournament, there are probably lesser known albums I love more than it that I could have nominated if I didn't rush myself, that said however I think 'Ritual' is fantastic still, I've seen Jape live a few times and they never disappoint which has helped increase my love for 'Ritual', I think this is their strongest album also. I've known the Stars Of The Lid for quite awhile now and while 'Tired Sounds...' is a good album, it's something I can only really take in small doses, as in when I listen to it I'd rarely put it on for a long time again afterwards. So pretty easily 'Ritual' for me, pity it never stood a chance here though.
Jape is the freakin' Beatles compared to Stars of the Lid. I know I said that before. But I wasn't entirely kidding, I thought Ritual was a really good album, and probably would have gotten my vote against 3/4 of the other albums I've heard in the tournament so far. Pisses me off that it's gonna lose to this bunch of vaccuum cleaners.
