arcade fire are a bunch of hipsters. Only looking at some of their titles (oh Eurydice) makes me think it is made by a 14-year old nerd.
I don't understand. Are they hipsters or are they nerds? Surely those two things are largely mutually exclusive, no?

My only real knowledge of the Dutch rave scene is of gabba, if I'm honest. And, to be fair, a lot of gabba does sound like child songs with a simple beat, but surely that's the point. Part of the wonder of rave music is in its ability, alongside MDMA, to create a sort of infantile ritualism, whereby people can return to a pure state of loved-up oneness, and this has its upsides such as an inclusive atmosphere where people don't feel threatened, either physically or sexually. So you might be right, but it's worth taking the context into account before espousing ridiculous views on music you probably haven't taken the time to experience fairly in its proper setting.

Examples, please. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't know specifically what you're talking about.

Bro, you have Phil Collins' Face Value on your chart.

Well, they can. In fact, they're far more technically adept than, say, Tupac, who I believe features very near the top of your chart. It doesn't necessarily make them better rappers (rapping is about far more than technical ability), but it does mean that your statement is factually incorrect. Both were extremely inventive with their nimble, fast-rapping flows, and their mastery of internal rhyme schemes puts them very near the top of most greatest rapper lists.

Please define "real music".

wow that was the most open-minded and non-snap-judgement-based post Ive ever read
and others off the Sending Orbs (Funckarma+all) label though i may be stretching the "DJ" interpretation a bit at least in terms of what id imagine youre talking about.

I see I've got a lot of negative replies on my comment. WELL, THAT WOULD MEAN I DID A GREAT JOB, SINCE THE TOPIC IS CALLED CONTROVERSIAL MUSIC OPINIONS.
However, I did sometimes exaggerate. When I say Jay-Z and Eminem can't rap I do indeed actually mean I don't like their styles. But I thought if I wrote it that way it wouldn't be that controversial anymore.
@skinny: 1. I mean they're hipsters. I'm sorry if you got confused because I used the term nerd. I tried to say that they try so hard to be different (thus hipsters), but eventually end up sounding ridiculous. But you're clearly trying to avoid giving a good reason why they aren't hipsters.
2. I can't really buy the stuff you wrote about Dutch rave culture, but hey, that's my opinion.
3. The thing I hate about Mick Jagger is that he is still trying to draw all the attention to himself while his time is clearly gone.
4. Alright, I have Phil Collins in my list, I kinda liked that one, but I put it on no. 40, if I had an 80s album in the top 20 you could say something. I also got NWA (it ends there), but the fact that I hate the 80s in general doesn't mean I have to ban them off my list.
5. I just don't like to listen to Jay-Z or Eminem, I'm just more into west coast.
6. I've got nothing against jazz. It's just when I listen to a jazz-album, I get tired. I don't find it relaxing.
7. Well, to me, I like music when it's original and surprising. A singer-songwriter is someone who is putting a lot of effort in the lyrics and the only instrument they use is a piano or a guitar (Wikipedia: 'typically using a guitar or piano'). I find that rather boring. I'm not saying it's impossible to make good music with just a piano or a guitar, but I think it's pretty difficult to make something original. I think you'll have to be a genius to make something interesting with just one instrument. In short: Those singer-songwriters kinda sound all the same to me.
But after all: It's my opinion! It doesn't necessarily have to make sense; I just feel that way. You're clearly making a too big deal out of this. I'm sometimes exaggerating, sometimes joking (the 14-year old nerd thing). I didn't expect that you would all take it so seriously. I mean, I could also say about Skinny's statement: 'I think reading your opinions isn't good for your health' that you sound like a mind-controlling dictator, but I know that was meant as a joke.
