Sorry for my absence. I don't know if anyone other than Pa will read this, but anyway...
I'd like to tell you something about Sycamore Age.

They're italian but they sing in English. Well, they don't even sing a lot, because their music is pretty much instrumental. Their style is very personal and particular. It's a mix of prog rock, electronic, noise, folk, psychedelia, metal, kraut rock, baroque pop... It's very hard to classify them under a single genre. Influences are from Radiohead (expecially "In Rainbows" and Thom Yorke's solo works), Jeff Buckley (for the voice), Peter Hammil, but also old bands like Van der Graaf Generator and Amon Duul, and more and more.

They released only an album by now, "Sycamore Age". This album brings you into another world, a magic and colourful world. The various influences are all put togeter in wonderful musical themes and complex structures, but without wasting time: you'll be surprised by the times of the songs being pretty short. Every track tells you a story, and, like in a story, the characters enter the scene one next to each other. The notes create carpets full of mysterious angles. They paint images in your head chord after chord, shifting from a kind of sound to another with exceptional class. The atmosphere is at times alienating, at times bright and magic, at times scary.
This album is for free spirits.
9/10

Sycamore Age by Sycamore Age

This is the first track. Frightening and alienating.

This is one of my favourites. Exotic folk sounds with a bright / scary vibe.

With this one the style shifts to minimalism and baroque pop, with clear influences from J. Buckley but pretty different: more rich and more psych.

wow it seems so interesting! I'm listening to "binding moon" and yes, in a way the voice remembers me radiohead but I want to have a full dive in this album before to say something more!
I'm having a "bit locos" days but I'll try to find the time.
did u rate it 9/100, uh?
I'm just curious to discover more ๐Ÿ˜

well...quite difficult to say something about Sycamore Age, full of surprises and hypnotic melodies, really cool piano sections, elaborate songs with (sometimes) inscrutable influences
original band but in the same time I've felt that I've been listening to them for a long time!
I need to relisten this album...
still unable to rate it, perhaps 8.5...

ps: love it!

I'm happy that you like them. Yes, cool piano sections, too. ๐Ÿ˜„
You feel like that prob because of the various influences they take and put togeter.

I love these guys, I would like to know more italian bands like this!

before to speak about music, I'd like to share a really good quote...by Rumi:

โ€œYour task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.โ€

If you search in the thread, you'll see my post about it. Well, it's very very different from "Sycamore Age".

Those three songs are cool. "Wheeping Pirates" is awesome, and I'm saying this without being into the genre. ๐Ÿ˜„
