I took a few music history courses in college, and they were really great. They opened up my world to Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Cage, Reich...etc

totally worth it, if it's free for you

It don't take a class to like pop music 😄 There is no need to study anything about music. Anyone is free to read any books or take any courses on it though.
