Haha! Since I was listening it with you in mind, I just mashed up "the college try" with your name. I'm stupid like that. ( ๐ ). I bumped up the first two tracks a notch, but still think the last two tracks are the best. The middle of the album falls just a tad flat. I was never a huge fan of the single except for the line "i know a girl who reminds me of Cher" since I was weirdly enough dating a girl at the time that reminded me (a lot) of (a cuter) Cher.
Not a bad album at all. Just not as good as Priest Driven Ambulance (my fave), Hit to Death, or Clouds Taste Metallic (my second favorite). I like it better than Yoshimi though. ***1/2
edit: I agree with NV, that this was where they crafted their signature sound, which they would go on to perfect with Clouds Taste Metallic and The Soft Bulletin. It's a transitional album.
I prefer this to Black Star. I also prefer Black on Both Sides to Black Star. All three are dope though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Yeah, maybe Clouds might be more consistent; fluid, but I think this is a great piece of work that parades Lip's "alt rock-era" very well. I like The Soft Bulletin better (It's their best, imo) of course, but they were playing with much more than noisy alt rock on that record...
