New Whirr album dropped, listening to it now. So far it hasn't hit Distressor levels of quality, but it's still really solid nu-gaze.

I don't think the official release date is for a bit longer but I'm not splitting hairs, I just want to hear new shoegaze releases. Getting to the end of it now and definitely feeling like they've lost a step or two since Distressor and Pipe Dreams, but it's still one of the stronger shoegaze releases I've heard so far this year. I have high hopes for the new LSD And The Search For God ep to be the best shoegaze release of 2014 though.

i've also enjoyed Saint Marie Records' 2014 output, like Strata Florida, Lightfoils, Spotlight Kid & Melancholy And The Archive.

the shoegaze album i'm most looking forward to is the as-yet-untitled Cherry Wave full-length which hopefully will be out soon.

I'm an old friend of their drummer. He was also touring drummer for Unicycle Loves You for about a year. I think you'd probably dig them. The new album is a great throwback to the likes of Dinosaur Jr and Swirlies

5 Maroon 5 albums now. It's the future. One day there might be 10 Maroon 5 albums and you will feel very old indeed. Imagine 10 Kaiser Chiefs albums in existence. The future is stoping for no one.

So this is in my top-10 for the year so far (it's at #10).

It's fantastic, CEG's best work in my opinion. It's able to be huge, expansive, powerful, complex, but still be intimate and personal. D'Agostino's songwriting is awesome, his vocals are great, and the music supports them well. It's powerful stuff. Highly recommended.
