[Closed] B1974 2AR Grievous Angel v. Here Come the Warm Jets

Wrapping up Round 2 this weekend. Grievous Angel, easily. Quite possibly my favourite country album of all-time. Honestly, not many albums would stand a chance against any of Parsons records for me including his overlooked International Submarine Band project. Grievous Angel easily. Grievous Angel by a country mile. Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons But alas, it's up against Eno's debut. My favorite album of 1974, and one of the my all time favorites. Fripp, Manzanera, Wetton all contribute major performances. This is art rock at its finest. This match-up is kind of ... unfair. Many respectable works will loose when compared to Here Come the Warm Jets and that is what Pussy Cats sounds to me: a respectable collaborative effort. These four match-ups have been good because I've liked all of the albums. Unfortunately, that means I have to vote against an album I like in each case. Warm Jets is probably my favorite Eno record, so Pussy Cats had a steep hill to climb; even so, it gave me something to go back to, being the first Nilsson experience that caught my attention. Here Come The Warm Jets by Brian Eno

I really like Grievous Angel, but Here Come The Warm Jets is my favourite Eno album and one of my all time favourite albums.

Grievous Angel makes me want to listen to Country Music. You can judge for yourself whether that is a Good Thing or not so much. I mean, I like HCTWJ, but not nearly as much as the harmonies of Graham and Emilou.

Vote to Mr. Parsons

Finally went with my nom, the Grievous Angel. Long live country music!

Here come the warm jets, no contest. Eno's a fantastic producer. maybe he's not the best musician but his guest musicians more than make up for that (Robert Fripp! Robert Fripp!)

But, to his luck, the best singer!

I love Gram Parsons. That said, while his songwriting had flashes of genius, his recordings tended to be kind of crappy. Grievous Angel is an okay album, but it's not amazing, and the best songs are done much better by others as covers.

Edge to Eno.

(Even though I missed the deadline.)
