It's better than I thought it would be. I'd love to hear more by the backing band, The Sensational Space Shifters. Occasionally, this album has a feel to it similar to a film score, and sounds like three different musical styles playing at once. I guess it should sound that way when you have African instruments like bendirs and djembes, and then you have the moog bass and wailing guitars not to mention violin playing something from some dramatic crime show like in "Embrace Another Fall." "Little Maggie" even has a fast paced violin riff similar to that of an upbeat Irish tune while the song is pure folk with a country-esque riff. I guess that's what the album is going for in some of the tunes. Robert's lyrics stay good and his voice is just as beautiful as ever.
