I like Paul Gilbert, he's an impeccable and technical guitarist who has played a lot of styles on record (classical, blues, metal, etc.) with this intense sort of precision and fluidity to his playing. His solo work generally consists of light-hearted rock music or the occasional noodling but the man has a great sense of humor and sense of guitar-playing.
