Really good black metal though. An album that evokes feelings of loneliness and isolation, the feeling of being surrounded by a busy world you have no part in, of not having a home save for your own sadness.
Also, Thurston Moore has a spoken word part on it, so that's interesting. _________________ Progressive Rock
Manchester Orchestra announced the release of "HOPE", which is an acoustic reimagination of COPE from earlier this year. As COPE is easily my least favorite of theirs, I initially wasn't at all excited for this. But upon hearing "Girl Harbor" this morning, I'm actually excited to hear the rest. Part of me thinks that since it's their weakest album from a songwriting standpoint, it just won't translate to entirely slow/acoustic. But it sounds like I might be wrong.
Link to "Girl Harbor" HOPE version on soundcloud if anyone is interested:
I haven't given it a listen, but I've heard it's fake. :(
The one that was just uploaded tonight? This one is 100% real, no doubt about it. We have spectrals, lineage and cue, and actual pictures of the CD and it's packaging. If you give it a listen, it's undeniably RDJ. Also it's fucking fantastic.
Yes the one that came out today has all of the tracks that were confirmed via live versions getting copyright notices on youtube, and it is absolutely incredible.

Yeah, the one I've heard is great quality and the tracks completely match the descriptions offered up by The Quietus' first listen review, which was based on an official Warp listening party for journos. So I'm like 99% sure it's legit, though you never know with James. But yeah, I'd say this is it. Also, it's fucking fantastic. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
That leak is legit in both senses of the term. I need to go back and listen to RDJ's other stuff again (haven't listened to non-RDJA in maybe four or five years) to tell where exactly I place it, but as far as the year goes, it's near the top (not an astounding feat, since I've been largely unimpressed with this year, but would surely have been near the top in just about any average year).
