So I actually got around to listening to this, and it's really not bad. It's a lot better than No Line On The Horizon. While it's not an amazing album, it's not a bad one by any stretch, there's some cool stuff.

I really feel like, in some cases, people are hating this album without even giving it a fair shot because 1. they hate Bono, 2. they hate U2 in general, and/or 3. they hate the way this was released.

I find it interesting that Danger Mouse and Ryan Tedder were so heavily involved in the album

Of course they did. Rolling Stone comforts themselves with the familiar.

The BEA community, (which has extremely deep and broad music tastes and a smattering of cynics) has just spent 12+ pages debating the merits of the new album and it's distribution method. If this is indicative of the impact on the general populace, I think that Bono, Universal and Apple would be well pleased.

Not to mention generally favorable reviews from all around and even a few from BEA members.
