It's this eerie classical/drone mix from France released in the 70s. Heavy on the sax (obviously) but it's not obnoxious. Could only imagine what this would be like to see live. Not even on BEA, but it will be.
This changed punk, and specifically pop-punk. You don't get the Green Day we have, the Offspring we have, the Parasites, Samiam, Fitz of Depression. Lookout! Records even credits them with starting East Bay pop punk and launching the label, without which we wouldn't have Alkaline Trio, The Donnas, Mr T Experience, Green Day, Operation Ivy, The Queers, Rancid, or Ted Leo and The Pharmacists (not to mention all the groups they in turn launched).
For those curious about the musical style, imagine a mixture of Violent Femmes, Ramones, and Offspring, and you get Sweet Baby. _________________
It's their best in my opinion, and also my favourite. I mean so what if it's over produced?
If this had come out as their debut as opposed to coming off the back of Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory then I feel this would be regarded as a stone cold classic. It still has that anthem-like Oasis sound and there also some quirky moments which work wonders eveyr now and again; what's not to like?
