No Led Zeppelin yay
Surprised that Yesterday and Moonlight on Vermont were snubbed.
Overall though, fantastic job BEA. And a thank you to Jhereko for putting it together _________________ Doubles & Conch

I'd be happy to add pretty much any of these songs to one of my playlists, so nice results. I actually didn't save the list I submitted, but here are some favorites of mine that didn't make it:
A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall - Bob Dyan (his best!)
Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Stand - Sly and the Family Stone
Madam George - Van Morrison (though just about anything on Astral Weeks could go here)
Candy Says - Velvet Underground
The Happening - The Supremes
I Can’t Make It Alone - Dusty Springfield
Sunshine Superman - Donovan (a '60s song list without Donovan?!)
Mr. Tambourine Man - The Byrds (may be the only Dylan cover better than the original)
Pleasant Valley Sunday - The Monkees
Cathy's Clown - Everly Brothers (yeah, it's from the '60s)
Georgia on My Mind - Ray Charles
I'll Be Here in the Morning - Townes van Zandt
I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better - Byrds
Other notes:
- I love Nina Simone, but I prefer to listen to her in album format. It's great how her albums all feel like she's giving you a personal performance.
- "God Only Knows" is a bottom third song on Pet Sounds
- lack of Byrds is just dreadful
- also this:

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it, it was fun to put together. I don't think we can be too hard on each other; it's easy to forget songs (although there was one user who had half their ballot as Beatles songs smh) and what's here is okay (although I agree with Satie that Sinnerman should have been higher).
Skinny wrote: | If it isn't too much trouble, I'd be interested in seeing how a one-song-per-artist list would've looked (or two-songs-per-artist, if less than 100 artists were nominated, though I'd be genuinely shocked if that were the case), but I understand if you can't be bothered after having gone through all the balloting and presentation. |
So if we did 1 song per artist the list would look like this (bearing in mind that the lower down you get here the less it means in terms of # of votes etc):
1. God Only Knows by The Beach Boys
2. Day In The Life by The Beatles
3. Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones
4. Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan
5. Venus In Furs by The Velvet Underground
6. Be My Baby by The Ronettes
7. Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks
8. Alone Again Or by Love
9. The End by The Doors
10. A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke
11. Space Oddity by David Bowie
12. 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson
13. My Generation by The Who
14. I Want You Back by The Jackson 5
15. California Dreamin' by The Mamas And The Papas
16. White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
17. (Sittin On) The Dock of The Bay by Otis Redding
18. Suzanne by Leonard Cohen
19. I Wanna Be Your Dog by Iggy And The Stooges

the 1970s poll is now open https://curtin.asia.qualtrics.com/SE/?S...z1iycDsWMt
I have ballots from the following people
revolver94
Norman Bates
BasdeWit97
Mr Frogger
Dingerbell
Tonality
gussteivi
edubs
Secondsoul
MeccaLecca
creator
migglemo
and I'll be accepting ballots until probably 2 weeks time. It would be really awesome to get as many ballots as possible (we had a great amount for the 60s but it'd be cool to get even more) - it makes it more fun and it's more representative of the community. Don't get stressed out about making the 'perfect list' whatever you come up with is fine.
As I've said before please don't post your full list until after the presentation but I really encourage promoting some of your favourites, especially the ones you think people might forget.

Could I possibly fill out a new poll for the 70's ballot? I did the last one fairly quickly and definitely missed a lot of stuff.

Kinda feeling the same way. I have no idea what I submitted at this point, but I doubt it included William Onyeabor, and it'd kill me to leave him off _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Anyone whose already sent a ballot who wants to send a new one, that's fine, just enter your name plus '2' at the end on the first page so I know which one is the new one.
If it doesn't let you do a second one let me know and I'll see what I can do.
