I don't think it's 100% necessary to listen to it all in one sitting, (though if I have enough time that is certainly my preference). The songs are all really short vignettes, and are pretty memorable in tone, so I think you should be good however you decide to listen. It's not even so much an album as it is a scrapbook of upbeat heartbreak
That's a bit of an exaggeration on the vignettes thing, most of the songs on the album are pretty full fledged songs. Also it's amazing.

This is great! Reminds me of a Japanese Dinosaur Jr with some post-punk mixed in. That dreaded language barrier keeps it from sticking with me like any Dino Jr, but musically it's right up there with the best indie rock released in 1996. Fantastic rec Gowie

I'll hand over the credit to Yourself, who rec'd to me a while back. Aside from 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand (David Eugene Edwards post-16 Horsepower), Jay Munly would be the next logical place to check out. He's a member of Slim Cessna's and his solo work is quite good. Gorgeous. Flawlessly circulates between energetic jazzy noise improve to relatively tonal sections before falling back unto an utterly beautiful yet entirely cohesive chaos. Standard loud-quiet-loud dynamics given an entirely new perspective (whilst still exhibiting clear influence from a number of atonal classical composers as well as noisy free-jazz pioneers), all while maintaining a wonderful distinct voice. The percussion and string work just bounce off of each other's respective dynamic ranges just perfectly; just as emotional evocative as it is just plain fun. Thanks Gowi <3
