Like a more conservative precursor to Stereolab and Broadcast and possibly even Portishead. An air of retrofuturism about it that makes the album sound extremely dated and yet strangely timeless. As British as apologising to somebody for allowing your toes to be trodden on. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
I say that in the sense that it mixes contemporary electronic elements with suave, Bacharach-esque pop nous, and some slightly disinterested female vocals. It's not as weird as Stereolab or Broadcast, but there are big similarities. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
Yes! I"m pretty sure you'll love it! As Skinny mentions it doesn't sound like either Stereolab/Broadcast, they have their own unique - & very British - thing going on. They pillage 80s synth pop & doll it up with a retro sensibility.

If the similarities are there to be picked up on, I'm already interested. I mean, it'll likely be a year before I get around to it anyways, but there's no reason not to have it on the docket. Anyways, I've already got it now.
John Peel once said The Fall were "always different, always the same". Well, Half Man Half Biscuit are just always the same. Which is a good thing in their case. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
