I feel like I was talking just a few days ago about how this would never happen, but Ride got back together.

Fuck. In my life I will get to see MBV, Slowdive, and Ride live.

Okay, I only have room for one hip-hop album on my 2014 top 10 (bcuz Hayden), but I don't know how to choose between

Hoop Life by Lil B

My Krazy Life by YG

CLPPNG by clipping.
Or

Run The Jewels 2 by Run The Jewels

What do you guys think?

Of those four, YG easily. I like the Run the Jewels album (should be in my hip-hop Top 30 of the year somewhere, but I forgot), it features some fantastic rapping throughout (El-P has always been a good rapper, but in terms of flow I feel he took a real step forward here), but my issue with the group is that I just don't they're as great as everybody else seems to think. Like, I'd rather just listen to an El-P or Killer Mike solo album, or a Public Enemy record. It's cool, but it definitely fetishises 1989 a little bit too much. As for Lil B, well, he's Lil B. His full-lengths are almost always lopsided, and feature too many forgettable/terrible tracks. clipping.'s first album was far better than their second album, probably because the novelty of their one trick has worn off at this point. YG's record is the definitive document of that DJ Mustard ratchet sound, with YG the perfect rapper to go over these beats, finding a perfect midway point between the club and the streets. Sure, he's not the world's most talented rapper, and DJ Mustard isn't the world's most talented producer, but together they have sort of come to define mainstream hip-hop in 2014, crafting a record that bumps the first time you hear it and then continues to reward with each subsequent listen. Sure, it owes a lot to Doggystyle, to good kid, m.A.A.d city, and to any number of those Mannie Fresh-produced Cash Money albums (Juvenile's 400 Degreez being arguably the best example), but it still feels totally current and completely great. Sure, it's not gonna appeal to the RYM crowd who like something a little more traditionally "intelligent" from their hip-hop, but they miss the point half the time anyway. My Krazy Life is fun, poignant, and one of the best albums of the decade so far. Sure, I prefer Pinata, but largely because I'm such a Freddie Gibbs fanboy. But if somebody asked me to recommend a hip-hop albums that was (to some extent) objectively representative of this year, whilst still be a fucking great record, I'd say My Krazy Life in a heartbeat.

Interesting little thing here. No idea if it's going to be on his next album but it's always nice seeing new stuff from him. Vaguely Slint-ish.

Has anyone here every bought something from www.importcds.com ?

They have some too-good-to-be-true prices, but I've seen them around a bit. Any insight?

I remember a while back there were posts about BEA musicians and sharing that music... but I can't find it... but I did want to share with ya'll new music that I wrote with 3 other musicians.

I will preface that this release is tracked live. Just 4 musicians playing at the same time (minus harmony and 3rd guitar parts). We mixed it and added a couple effects to the vocals as well... but the recording is a live take...

Anyways, check out the tracks here:

If you order directly, there is a handling fee for every order and a shipping fee for every item. Most of the items I bought with the "ships in 5-10 days" tag got cancelled weeks later and the money was not refunded until I emailed customer service. Now I only order when they have 10% off sales because it brings their prices slightly below Amazon's prices.

If you're into used CDs, check out gohastings.com. They have zero quality control (you're going to get broken cases, occasional broken CDs) but the prices and sales are unbeatable.

Mmmmmm Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper feels so good. The things I recognized are definitely a bit different from their live "beta" versions but they're only better for it. Gonna have to let the new material soak in for a little more.

**I was listening to Pains of Being Pure at Heart one day and decided I needed more like that. Thanks to Brandon and Jim and SingingPeasant for bringing me this pleasure

***My rekindling with indie pop was sparked by Goodsir recommending Everyone Asked About You, however this was taken further by countless users. Thanks to a bunch of RYM users, SingingPeasant, etc.
