The bolded things are related to sound quality right? Is this something which really matters? Do albums with the smaller numbers sound different to the higher numbers?
I'm not the sort of person who cares massively about sound quality (I couldn't recommend you a decent speaker system), but I find you lose a lot of clarity listening to lower quality mp3s. With some albums it doesn't matter at all, but when it comes to albums with a fuller, more congested sound - many hip-hop albums, for example, with their layers of samples and multiple vocal tracks - I find it makes a huge difference. (One recent example is Flying Lotus' latest album, which is a labyrinth of electric and acoustic sounds, often dozens of layers, and which sounds absolutely terrible in anything below 320kbps.) I tend not to listen to anything I can't find in 320, though occasionally I have to make exceptions. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Gonna echo most of what Neil said re: this, but also going to add that if you're a seriously pedantic audiophile to a borderline idiotic extent (such as I tend to be), then your best quality audio will always be that in a lossless format, (generally FLAC or WAV, or ALAC if you're Apple's bitch). But otherwise, I'm usually satisfied with V0 (high quality variable bitrate). It's more space-efficient than 320, and although it's technically of a lower bitrate, it adjusts itself to match the amount of musical activity within the track. Quite useful if your hard drive is filled to the brim
That said, Neil I will hook you up with a 320 ๐
Really interesting album, very different sound, like psych-hip-hop, really cool. It felt all 60s, but not completely, I dunno, hard to describe. Definitely unlike most hip-hop albums that I've heard.
This was very interesting and I liked it quite a bit, but as with a lot of improvisational music itโll take time for me to digest over several listens. When I listened to this Iโm not sure I was in the mood for sort of free jazz aesthetics in a noise composition, but now that itโs in mind and in my library I can revisit it quickly when I am. Also, I liked the first track (or side, if you want to be pedantic) more than the second one.
I'm tired and not 100% sober but this was really cool in a lot of ways that I can't really words right now. Murder Ballads era nick cave (with a touch of boatmans call) + this one russian neofolk singer I know who's name o forget but with more ballady moments and emotion/variety and yeah really cool album wtih cool instruemntation. FEELSY SHIT
My only experience with Gilberto in the past has been with Getz/Gilberto (which of course I adore), so even going in with high expectations, I think such expectations were surpassed. Although the mastering of the album is fairly precise and relatively polished, there is a striking intimacy to each of his guitar/vocal wonders (with their surrounding big band accompaniments; each feel so personal, not quite in the melancholy way of Nick Drake or Elliott smith, but more of a serene atmosphere with an air of romanticism and even an understated joy of the purest kind. Lovely record. Thanks brun!
