Given your love for indie hip-hop, you should love this
ah sorry seems Gowi beat you to the punch by like half a second, so I guess this goes to him, which is probably just as good seeing as I have already heard and enjoy it ๐
Strangely happy little bits of focused (but fun) layered noodlings of who knows what. Jumps across several different atmospheres that all feel tied together with some kind of central "theme" that I can't really put my finger on. The whole thing is rife with this smart and quirky atmosphere. Definitely gonna get more listens as there is certainly a lot to enjoy here, and I don't think I've found it all quite yet, but I'm really enjoying it. Thanks Gowi!
Very soothing record with a lot of flirtations with a variety of styles, generally this would feel at home on radio alongside the folk revival and โindie crossoverโ scenes as Iโve heard plenty of acts come out in the last ten years with this sort of dynamic but hardly as consistent on record. Band has laid a lot of good groundwork for their debut and I enjoy it well enough.
in theory I should absolutely love this, and to be certain I did really enjoy it, but the ambitious attempt at synthesis of the myriad sounds that comprised the album (namely the jazz/black metal fusion, but also moments of early Alcest-esque blackgaze that leans farther on the shoegaze end of the spectrum, more melodic sections juxtaposed to the lengthy atmosphere of the whole thing, and borderline industrial synth, which didn't feel too out of place but at its worst did remind me vaguely of Dรธdheimsgard c. 666 International -take that as you will)... It was either too many great ideas pulled out over too long a period of time or simply not enough cohesion between the various styles that kept me from loving it as much as I feel like I would have, but honestly I don't know why I'm being so negative here this honestly was a really great album and I'm likely going to listen to it again at some point
anyone feel like sending something in my general direction?
i'm not gonna participate and listen to what gets posted below me, just fyi, because i'm way behind on my backlog, but i'll give you one to listen to after seeing your BM chart:
Raw and hateful with wonderfully grimy production. Totally unpredictable guitar riffing with a general vibe that feels more reminiscent of early foundational black metal (namely Sarcรณfago and Blasphemy, and to a lesser extent, Bathory). Just an all-out unapologetic assault that pays little attention to polish and is way better off because of it. Thanks satie ๐
