I'll give you something fairly recent that might go under your radar, glad you digged the Vanden Plas record though which was a grower for me for sure.
Enjoyed this quite a bit. A really solid power metal album with some really nice progressive flourishes to it, always great stuff from you, thanks!
Really cool melodic tech death album. Grandiose without feeling self-indulgent, lots of cool changes in dynamics. Song-structure gets kinda formulaic at times but is still executed very well for the most part. Solid riffing. Main selling point for me would be in the dynamics, with those tempo changes ranging from the pleasantly understated to the outright pause of the whole damn thing before resuming the onslaught. I dig ๐
Oh and Cuba I listened to that Murcof album. Actually better than I remembered, and inspired me to revisit the rest of his stuff. Think Cosmos is probably still my fave but damn what a discography. He may not have been the first to blend classical sampling with minimal/ambient techno, but may very well be the best
AND Applerill I went ahead and listened to Unjust Malaise even though I've done so very recently because it's just that great, and yeah it's about as fantastic as always. The gradual descent of "Stay On It" from minimalist pop melodicism to crazed dissonance is still just sublime
SO Rocky hm let's see what do I give you this time....
I hereby relinquish Silver from his responsibility to listen to that 4 hour insdustrial/noise/ambient album. You are free to rejoin this thread free of consequence
