So this looks to be the third album of 2015 which will be going on alongside Tetsuo and Abnoco. Haven't even heard Dope Machines, To Pimp a Butterfly, or Poverty yet, all of which are super exciting to me still, but they'll have to wait. AWOLNATION took the best moments of Megalithic and just made it into an album. Not quite done with it but my god, this is great, and Megalithic floats around 110-125 usually in my excel of favorite albums.
Agreed. AWOLNATION managed to do amazing here. Loved it!
Great band release great album shocker! This is a bit less meandering and pyschedelic than previous efforts (though not completely straightforward), doubling down on the catchy riffs to produce a powerhouse of a sludge/doom record.
Elder get proggier and proggier with every release (though this was my first and I've since gone backwards). Extremely varied stoner rock record - somewhere between Mastodon and Clutch. Excellent stuff.
Just some really dope ambient drone. In a genre where artists so often fail to distinguish themselves from the growing crowd, Miyata maintains a lovely tone throughout, and occasionally peppers with catchy (if subtle) motifs to really evoke the feel of a summer's dawn in beautiful port town.
Dark, minimal techno that would never, ever work in a club. Not a million miles away from that classic Mille Plateaux sound, but slightly messier and certainly more gothic. Starts off by evoking a general sense of unease, perhaps putting a bit too much emphasis on that classic techno trope of the humans vs. the machines, but evolves throughout into something far more at ease, if never tranquil. What initially sounds somewhat disjointed eventually comes together to form a very satisfying whole.
Basically following in YG and Mustard's footsteps, this California ratchet rap is fantastic fun, if probably a little too beholden to that aforementioned duo (whose label this mixtape is brought to you by), but featuring some very competent rapping that does just about enough to separate itself from YG, by putting more emphasis on staying in the pocket and less on sheer force of character. Not necessarily essential listening, but this will definitely appeal to anybody who enjoyed My Krazy Life as much as I did.
Enjoy, and be sure to check out my chart in case there's anything else there you may have missed (and to hit me up with recommendations). Link in sig. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
I just want to hype this album I found a few days ago as really amazing stuff. It's a gypsy jazz album and possesses quite a fun and at times mysterious quality to it. The instrumentation is fabulous and possesses such intriguing melody.
I found it to be an interesting atmospheric black/folk metal album. Little slow at times, but still a good album.
It's not OM, but it's more memorable than Negurฤ Bunget's debut. They've put out plenty of quality releases over the years though I doubt they'll peak quite like OM or 'n crugu bradului again.

It's slightly below average for me, which seems to be the general consensus. OM is an amazing album, so I couldn't see myself not giving this a shot. It has some interesting elements, but it drags on a bit. Ironically, the one track that doesn't drag on is the intro, which is also the longest track. Overall, shorter tracks and some interesting dynamics would of spiced it up quite nicely. I have absolutely no clue what the lyrics were, so I won't critique them, but for the most part they were completely intelligible.
But yeah, I can't call it bad, but it's nothing I'll see myself going back to. There are better albums that are similar that I could listen to instead. _________________ Doubles & Conch

Interested in some opinions on this album, especially from the metal crowd.
To paraphrase a review I read about this album, Death Engine isn't noise rock, but they're noisy and they rock. From a similar vein as Neurosis, it's cool stuff, I'm curious what others would think. _________________ Progressive Rock
