To be honest I'm barely even hearing the lyrics right now, I'm just jamming to this instrumentation. Loving the sound of this stuff. It's awesome.

Edit: Although now I'm listening to the lyrics more actively and they're also really good. I can see myself getting really into her stuff.

Do give it a second listen with attention to her lyrics. Avant Gardner in particular sounds super Kozelek-y with the wit of Father John Misty.

Ooh I love Barnett, that whole EP and her new LP. Depreston is one of my favourite songs of the year.

Anyway, I'm still having trouble narrowing down my selection for the 2013 teams, so doing some further (re)listening today.

I started honing in on the lyrics right around there. Not sure I see Kozelek that much but there's this certain apathetic, cynical wit to it that I could see being reminiscent of FJM in a way. Really liked her style and the EP regardless, gonna put on her new one right now.

I don't hear Kozelek either. But there is this deadpan, cynical, self-deprecating type of humour which I love.
