I used it for my first round in the BYT! I think it's a great record. Though I suppose I could relisten to it anyway?

Oh hey i remember this, completely forgot about it tho. This is a weird one, I find my enjoyment of vocals is somewhat arbitrary and so there's a lot of music that seems good but i cant quite get into it. Thats how the vox were for me on here, but they aren't a super heavy factor thru the whole thing. The percussion has a quality that really evokes the time it came out in, but it seems like it's operating just outside of a lot of the trends and wouldn't really fit with any of the house styles of the big labels in electronic music. Yeah this is a peculiar one I'll need to revisit.

shadowcolossi was the last person to post an album right? I think that's who's supposed to get one? Ok shadowcolossi listen to

Ehhhhh this one is not really my style. I dunno, everything here reads as super cheesy for me. And it's 80 minutes long. I'm sorry but yeah this sort of stuff is completely outside of my interests.

(The Dismemberment Plan - "Emergency & I")

Right, I obviously really really dig Emergency & I which is pretty much an alternative rock staple for good reason. There is a few things I look for in a good alternative rock/indie rock record and that includes what the guys in the Dismemberment Plan do really wellโ€”engaging guitar lines, interest-grabbing melodies or hooks, and cohesive songwriting. It doesnโ€™t have to be innovative, technical, or experimental (though it adds another layer of intrigue to a record) or anything, it just has to keep my interest and I have to like the sounds; which sounds pretty basic but sometimes basic is all I need. I got into this record after listening to โ€œDo the Collapseโ€ by Guided by Voices and it has the same kind of things I like in that record which ultimately led me into a growth of enjoying these sounds way before I got into Husker Du, Sonic Youth, Pixies, or Dinosaur Jr.

This is badass as fuck. I can easily vibe to this and feel the coolest person in my house (and my sister's really cool). Only thing is I think it falls a bit too long to listen in one sit.

Ok Gowi, I've been obsessing over this one lately, hope you enjoy it ๐Ÿ˜„

listened to this a little while ago, and was very impressed. Free improvisation can be really hit or miss for depending on a lot of factors only of a few of which I am directly conscious, but for me it's either something I see as sublime or lazy and uninspired, and this most certainly falls into the former category, those industrial electronics underlaying moments of free jazz and distorted rock felt so pefectly off-kilter. There's a lot to get out of this and it's been a fairly regular listen for the last few days now. Thanks secretdad!

Oh boy another for Brun. Here buddy take this

Jesus this was hypnotic, and I'm all about hypnotic. EXCEPT it totally subverts that hypnosis by falling out of a pattern when you least expect it. It's a super tense and anxious listen (and somehow I mean that in a good way). Like there's not a hell of a lot going on but it's still full of surprises and you'd think after more or less the same shit for this long I'd start to get a hold of the thing but NOPE still the best kind of frustrating.

Hey Applerill have you heard

Very mixed feelings about this one. The instrumentation was tight but the songwriting struck me as going for this heartfelt aesthetic which sounded genuine but I felt was undermined by what was (to my ears) just not very engaging songwriting. This was hardly the dominate feeling I got, and there were some moments where I wanted to stop what I was doing to listen more closely, but as a whole I was kinda underwhelmed... sorry man. Thanks for the rec though! Here I've got one for you have you heard this?
